After obtaining my degree in Social Work in Maastricht (1987), I gained work experience in a variety of settings. That is when I discovered that just talking was not sufficient.
So I went looking for an approach that integrated the physical dimension, and discovered Shiatsu therapy. I had found what I was looking for. In 1992, I started a higher education program at the Iokai Shiatsu Academy in Amsterdam. In 2007, I set up my own Shiatsu practice.
To broaden my knowledge in the field of body-oriented coaching, I completed a training course entitled ‘Heel de mens’ (healing the human being). In 2014, after a period of severe back problems, I started studying Do-In Yoga. I have also been following training programs in the field of Non-violent communication since 2016.
I am a member of the Dutch professional Association of Iokai Shiatsu practitioners (VIS). I am registered in the Dutch Register of Complementary Care Practitioners (RBCZ). As a care provider, my services fall within the scope of the Arbitration board of the Dutch Association of complementary and alternative medicine (SCAG).
I am convinced of the body’s ability to heal itself and therefore gladly share my knowledge and my experience in order to help others and myself stay healthy and/or recover from health complaints.
